I joined Flagship Consulting in April 2007 as Team Leader of the Travel & Leisure Division. Previously I spent over eight years with bgb communications, where most recently I was Associate Director with a specific remit to develop its luxury expertise. It’s really exciting to be working with Flagship, an agency that has impressed me with its verve, creativity and professionalism.
For me the team’s role is first and foremost to be an extension of our clients’ sales and marketing teams – we believe in getting under the skin of the brands we represent and delivering powerful campaigns that deliver tangible results to the bottom line. Through a blend of smart-thinking, in depth understanding of the media landscape and a thorough knowledge of the marketing mix, we aim to exceed our clients’ expectations, whilst operating in a fun and buzzy environment.
I am passionate about travel PR; it’s exciting to work in an environment where you learn so much about the world, when it’s undergoing a period of unprecedented change in the way the product reaches the market. Since moving into PR I’ve worked on practically every facet of the travel arena – from mass market tour operators to niche destinations, from airlines to exhibitions, from individual luxury properties to global hotel groups and worked with some great brands too as they respond to and shape the market.
Challenges inspire rather than intimidate me – be it launching a new issues-led campaign, generating coverage beyond the obvious travel pages, creating an original and appealing event or devising an inventive promotion to really drive sales. I’m also an avid media consumer – enjoying everything from Closer to the Financial Times. I am a stickler for creating and tailoring stories properly for each media outlet - I think it’s vital for all PR practitioners to think like journalists.
