White Swan – Twickenham
28th February 2011This Saturday I was one of the lucky 80,000 to attend the England v France game at Twickenham and ventured into the town afterwards to celebrate the win. We ended up by the river at the White Swan– a lovely old pub that is welcoming, serves good beer and food. Apparently its rare beef roast on a Sunday is delicious, according to the locals. But I really enjoyed meeting 21 French men and women ‘on tour’ who had found the pub and were busy sampling warm beer! Their ‘capitaine’ had heard about the pub while in Mexico and put it on the itinerary and I am glad that he did as, despite all the jingoism expressed by the French coach earlier in the week, the entente cordiale seemed to be well and truly alive!!
