The world’s funniest joke
23rd January 2012In the good old tradition of making you smile we bring together a PR stunt, a bit more pseudo-science, and the “world’s funniest joke”.
Way back in 2002, Professor Richard Wiseman launched LaughLab to find the world’s funniest joke. The project lasted a year and was run in collaboration with The British Science Association. Over 40,000 jokes were submitted and over 1.5 million ratings were gathered.
To prove that oldies are always the goodies, the winning joke is based on a 1950s Spike Milligan gag from The Goon Show!
What do you think!?
Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn’t seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps, “My friend is dead! What can I do?”. The operator says “Calm down. I can help. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.” There is a silence, then a gun shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says “OK, now what?”
