The Ivy
30th March 2011In true PR style I decided to lunch at The Ivy. The legendary celebrity haunt has been on my list of places to visit since I moved to London so I chose it as the venue for my birthday lunch.
Tucked away in a not so pretty backstreet close to Covent Garden, The Ivy didn’t look amazing on the approach but inside it was warm and really welcoming.
While I had images of Mick Jagger and various supermodels lunching on the table next to me, there was sadly was no celeb spotting to be done, although I did keep a good watch every time a party came in just in case.
The food was absolutely lovely. I was worried it would be minuscule and totally style over substance, but I was wrong – there was lots of food. I actually couldn’t make it the four course mega lunch I’d had planned in my head, which was just as well because I’m sure I would have felt a bit guilty when the bill came.
There was certainly no shortage of waiting staff and we were really well looked after with friendly waiters making sure everything was okay and appearing out of nowhere to ensure our glasses were always full.
It was a great birthday treat and I now know what I’ve been told before is true – lunch is the only way to do The Ivy.
