Flagship Consulting Wins Ngerende Island Lodge

24 September 2009: Flagship Consulting has won the account to provide a range of PR services for Ngerende Island Lodge – the Masai Mara’s newest, and first boutique style, game lodge.

The Flagship team, headed by Sophy Norris, a director at Flagship Consulting, will manage a comprehensive campaign for Ngerende Island Lodge targeting high end UK consumers. This will be Ngerende’s first UK PR campaign since opening in October 2008.

The focus will be on generating visitors throughout the year, in particular the key periods of July-October and January-February during migration periods. Flagship will also work with travel trade to create introductions with bespoke travel specialists and strengthen relationships with key trade partners.

The lodge offers a luxurious, high-end, relaxed, boutique style experience suitable for discerning customers and is the ideal beginning or end to any Kenyan safari/beach break. Following its initial season, the property has received great feedback from customers who have stayed there, both directly and through review website TripAdvisor.

“Following the political issues of 2008, tourism in Kenya is picking up and it is an exciting time to start working with Ngerende Island Lodge,” comments Sophy Norris. “The long-haul luxury market has held up reasonably well during the recession, and we look forward to an increase in consumers travelling abroad in 2010 as the green shoots begin sprouting.

“Ngerende is a “great secret” and is only now beginning to be discovered by consumers. They have chosen the right time to begin using PR to raise their profile and we look forward to doing so using a mix of on and offline techniques.”

“Flagship Consulting impressed us with their track record of promoting high-end properties to consumers and excellent media contacts.” comments Eunice Kaigai, owner of Ngerende Island Lodge. “Their extensive knowledge of the travel industry meant that they really understood our business and how best we can use PR to help us grow strategically.”
