I came into PR with a background in
sales and marketing and, after twenty-five
years in consultancy, have accrued
wide experience in the business-to-business
arena, from IT and telecoms, travel,
recruitment and people issues through
to construction and the office environment.
My particular skills lie in the fields
of issue management, trade organisations
and helping companies promote themselves
to other organisations, often through
third parties. In more recent years
I have specialised in two sectors
and work closely with my colleagues
in the travel & leisure and people
& the workplace markets; as well
as managing clients who face sensitive
issues such as combating malaria or
embarking upon internal change programmes.
My travel experience is wide-ranging,
including Devon Tourism, Eurotunnel
and Accor (Novotel, Ibis, Formule1).
I have worked with the timeshare industry
for eighteen years (!) and have advised
trade bodies, exchange companies and
developers on how to handle the many
reputation challenges they have faced.
Within the people and the workplace
arena, my clients have spanned recruitment,
reward and ‘return to work’
programmes as well as assessment and
human capital management consultancies.
As one of my first jobs before joining
the consultancy world was with an
office furniture company, I have long
retained my links with this market
and, as well as promoting names such
as President Office Furniture, Samas
and Herman Miller, I was one of the
team that worked with Reed Exhibitions
to launch the show, Workplace. Other
workplace and building clients have
included Leiths, ISS, Kimberly-Clark
Professional, BAA and Franklin &
Andrews.
Phrases my colleagues tire of hearing
from me are ‘focus’, ‘magic
dust’ and ‘clear-thinking’
– all of which I hope to bring
to my clients’ programmes.
