People, their behaviour and how they
influence each other have always fascinated
me. I studied psychology at University
and went on to do a postgraduate degree
in Human Resources at the LSE. I then
spent a year as an industrial relations
trainee at Gallaher’s, which
introduced me to the world of negotiating,
positioning, posturing and spin. So
when the opportunity came for me to
join the world of PR I jumped at it.
My strengths lie in my passion for
results. My clients will say my mantra
is ‘Why are we doing this? What’s
the call to action?’ In the
twenty years that I have been in PR,
I have witnessed the power of good
PR and incredible effects it can have
on brand, reputation and people. When
my clients get that first piece of
major coverage, their first major
award, or envious recognition from
their competitors, it is just as exciting
for me as it has always been.
My forte is in corporate, financial
and internal communications. I have
worked with HM Prison Service, Whitbread,
KornFerry, Singer & Friedlander,
the BBC, The Priory, Trinity House,
Higham Group, Mazars and Electrocomponents
plc. I am trained in providing facilitation,
media and presentation skills and
I have recently completed a two-year
course in coach mentoring. I head
up our crisis management division
and have dealt with issues from the
high-profile sacking of Derek Lewis,
Director General of the Prison Service
by then Home Secretary Michael Howard
to major redundancy programmes and
industrial action and disasters such
as riots, bomb threats, fatalities
and potential business close-downs.
I am commercially focused and always
look for opportunities which will
result in direct benefits to my clients’
bottom line. I recognise that my clients
are accountable to their boards and
stakeholders and I am single-minded
about ensuring that our programmes
deliver what they have promised. I
believe in transparency and real partnerships
because that is when the power of
PR is unbeatable.
