Case Studies

Visit Winchester

We run an integrated PR campaign for Visit Winchester, with our travel PR team using traditional media public relations and social media to promote events, accommodation deals and Winchester’s strong festival scene.

A regular press trip campaign focuses on achieving destination-led features in national and regional press.

Our online voice comes through @King_Alf (former King of Wessex and Twitter’s ‘man about town’) and a growing Facebook campaign, which enables direct interaction with fans of Winchester. This is mixed with Winchester City Council’s own YouTube videos, which showcase the city’s attractions, and its award winning website. To date, our online campaign has been shortlisted for three awards (winning Silver in one).

Within three months of starting the campaign, Flagship had exceeded the previous agency’s coverage value by 60% and delivered a 73:1 ROI on print coverage for 2009.

Its advertisement for ‘unpaid’ nightshift workers had seemingly provoked fury and outrage resulting in the social networks working themselves into a frenzy of hostility. What was interesting was that

The starting point for most businesses embarking on an SEO campaign is (obviously) the desire to drive more visitors. • What to do if you hit the Jackpot

In recent weeks there have been two substantial EuroMillions wins in the UK.  Interestingly, both decided to announce their winning publicly, leading them into the ensuing media storm. And so, we see the same story cropping up in the media – is it wise for winners to come out publicly, or should they keep the

  • Midsized agencies – way to go!!

A couple of weeks ago London’s Evening Standard ran an article  saying that tougher times were ahead for PR firms ‘stuck in the middle’. In essence, the newspaper was saying that the only way ahead for PR consultancies was either to be a global conglomerate or a niche player – scale versus supposed agility, and

  • Is the media simply collecting tokens?

Recently a former Radio 4 controller called for more ethnic minority representation on flagship programmes ‘Today’ and ‘The Archers’ which came weeks after the decision by Neighbours to move its first Asian family into Ramsay Street. This should be applauded as a proactive step to increase visibility of minority ethnic groups within the media, so
