Pitchup.com

Flagship was appointed to run an integrated campaign to build brand awareness and increase traffic for camping and caravanning start-up Pitchup.com.

Initially working alongside Pitchup.com and its SEO agency, Flagship built a campaign that included identifying and targeting high influence websites that would encourage links and drive traffic.  This was deemed crucial in the launch stages of Pitchup.com, as the site readied itself to take bookings, a service that wasn’t available until eight months into the campaign.  Brand trust and awareness were vital in supporting the build up to the site’s transactional status.

Flagship created and promoted blog content for the site; dovetailing the current media agenda we ensured copy was timely, relevant and had impact.  We also developed strong media relationships that resulted in quality online articles, again promoting “link juice” and “click thrus”, and facilitated Pitchup.com’s participation in a TimesOnline web seminar on camping and caravanning

As a result of our work:

  • Organic traffic from search engines is the lead traffic source by more than 23%, despite an increase in PPC
  • ‘Pitchup.com’ was the top search term for new visits to the website in 2010, demonstrating brand awareness generated by the PR campaign
  • One well placed article on Yahoo! delivered more than 11,000 hits in one day – an all time peak for the site
  • 5% of new traffic for 2010 came directly through online articles placed by Flagship
  • Organic traffic is now 400% up year to date vs. 2010
  • Pitchup.com won Best Information Website at the Travolution Awards 2010
  • Campaign Shortlisted for Best Strategic PR Campaign at 2011 Travel Marketing Awards to be held in March

Pitchup.com now offers a range of bookable sites, so in the lead up to summer 2011 Flagship’s focus is on building on the site’s reputation to position it as the leading booking engine for camping and caravanning holidays in the UK.

Daniel Yates, managing director, Pitchup.com says “Flagship’s enthusiasm for their work and their clients shows.  The team is flexible, creative and driven, and the application of traditional and digital PR methods has contributed significantly to the growing success of Pitchup.com.”

Pressure Chamber

  • Blame storming- is it getting worse?

This morning, as my Twitter, Facebook and news feeds sprang onto my screens, it was clear that Tesco was in the middle of a media storm. Its advertisement for ‘unpaid’ nightshift workers had seemingly provoked fury and outrage resulting in the social networks working themselves into a frenzy of hostility. What was interesting was that

  • Guest post: Take a good look at your Google Analytics before you decide to invest in SEO

The starting point for most businesses embarking on an SEO campaign is (obviously) the desire to drive more visitors. But all too often, businesses focus their attention and resources on building traffic before they have really come to understand what’s happening on their website. In simple terms, you should always look to prioritise on-site conversion

  • What to do if you hit the Jackpot

In recent weeks there have been two substantial EuroMillions wins in the UK.  Interestingly, both decided to announce their winning publicly, leading them into the ensuing media storm. And so, we see the same story cropping up in the media – is it wise for winners to come out publicly, or should they keep the

  • Midsized agencies – way to go!!

A couple of weeks ago London’s Evening Standard ran an article  saying that tougher times were ahead for PR firms ‘stuck in the middle’. In essence, the newspaper was saying that the only way ahead for PR consultancies was either to be a global conglomerate or a niche player – scale versus supposed agility, and

  • Is the media simply collecting tokens?

Recently a former Radio 4 controller called for more ethnic minority representation on flagship programmes ‘Today’ and ‘The Archers’ which came weeks after the decision by Neighbours to move its first Asian family into Ramsay Street. This should be applauded as a proactive step to increase visibility of minority ethnic groups within the media, so
