Joint Information Systems Committee
In 2009, Flagship Consulting was tasked with promoting the JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee) Digitisation Programme, to raise awareness of its wide range of digital archiving activities.
The JISC project focused on providing the public with online access to a wealth of historical material, including literary manuscripts, filmed news reports, newspapers and periodicals, photographs and illustrations, which had previously only been available to a limited group of academics and specialist researchers.
Flagship’s brief was to secure media coverage for the individual digitising initiatives and also to highlight JISC’s management of the programme.
The project generated 152 pieces of media coverage, the majority of which specifically mentioned JISC’s role. Online coverage highlights included Sky News Online, the BBC News home page (with hyperlinks to the archive) and a photo gallery on guardian.co.uk. Print coverage included features in all national broadsheets and extensive regional coverage.
