Like many PR consultants, I am the poacher-turned-gamekeeper having started my career as a journalist. Seven years later I made my first foray into the world of PR taking up the position of press officer at a London local authority. Almost another seven years later and I moved to my first agency position where I led the PR effort for a range of technology clients. I then moved to an agency with a concentration on IT and technology. Here I developed my passion for corporate and B2B communications working with European and US clients, often managing a number of PR affiliate agencies across borders. My experience brought me into contact with many leading vertical sectors including government, education, financial services and retail.
In the HR space I have worked with Lawson Software, PeopleClick, Spring Group and Northgate Information Solutions. Other clients have included SGI (Silicon Graphics), Promethean, Sybase, Invest in Finland and Detica.
I am more and more interested in the people element of the workplace – especially given the impending skills shortage, pensions time bomb and need for greater diversity. Employment and HR issues are moving further and further towards the centre stage with the media grasping the bigger picture that recruitment, development and retention issues paint.
I have no doubt that there are exciting times ahead where my team and I will use our combined knowledge and experience to make sure that our clients are also centre stage when it comes to HR and workplace debates.
